Mark A. Skolnick

Mr. Skolnick is an associate of HUGHES GORSKI SEEDORF ODSEN & TERVOOREN, LLC. Mr. Skolnick is a member of the firm’s trial practice group and represents clients throughout Alaska and in all court jurisdictions. Mr. Skolnick represents a large number of clients throughout the United States who are doing business in Alaska. His practice includes all areas of litigation with emphasis on commercial (transactions, business formations, and litigation), aviation law, and family law. Mr. Skolnick joined the firm in 2009 after serving as a Judicial Clerk for the Alaska Superior Court in Fairbanks with the Honorable Mark Wood and the Honorable Robert Downes.

While attending law school at UCLA, Mr. Skolnick volunteered in South Central Los Angeles for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Hardcore Gang Division where he assisted in the prosecution of numerous gang murders in the community of Compton. He also clerked for Los Angeles International Airport and worked as a summer associate for the prominent aviation plaintiffs firm of Kreindler & Kreindler LLP. Prior to law school Mr. Skolnick worked as a Project Manager for an Alaska-based regional airline focusing on aviation safety and pilot training.

Mr. Skolnick is a licensed commercial pilot, flight instructor, and advanced ground and instrument instructor. He is an active pilot and has flown throughout Alaska. He has successfully trained dozens of pilots. He has assisted in the litigation of numerous plaintiff wrongful death actions in matters pertaining to aircraft accidents. He was selected as a candidate for the Federal Aviation Administration’s prestigious aircraft accident counsel in Washington D.C. He has extensive experience in aviation including advanced weather analysis, aerodynamics, Federal Aviation Regulations, combustion and turbine engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, structures, avionics systems, airframes, and human factors related to aviation accidents.

Mr. Skolnick honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1993 to 2001. He last served as a Reconnaissance team leader for Echo Company 4th Recon Battalion in Alaska.
